Welcome

Hi, I’m Sarah

I’m a wife and mom with a passion for interior design and home renovation. In 2019 we moved into my husband’s childhood home in Western NY. The house hadn’t really been updated since it was built in 1989. I picked up power tools, learned what difference paint could make, and began this DIY story I’m sharing with you here. I’ve found so much joy in making our house a home and haven for my family, and I want to help you create a home you love as well.

Where this all began

I’ve always been a serial furniture arranger, and I probably spent more time than the average teen deciding on the perfect placement for the posters in my bedroom. I’ve always been drawn to pick up the latest copy of do it yourself or Architectural Digest magazines. I’ve always had a love for all things home.

In 2019, my family and I found ourselves moving into my husband’s childhood home to help care for his sister. The house hadn’t been updated in the 30+ years since it was built and although the ’90s have come back in many other ways, home design is not one of them 🙂

Needless to say, the house needed some modernizing. We also wanted to start putting our own touch on it, make it our own. My father-in-law was an electrician and handy himself, and we were fortunate to find ourselves with a home that needed updating and a basement full of tools. I asked my husband to show me how to use a miter saw and from there, my passion for home became a passion for DIY as I learned how to use power tools and started working on making this house our home.
